National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital celebrates 50th founding anniversary

The National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital October 11 celebrated its 50th founding anniversary with the attendance of Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.

Heath Minister Tien stated that all medical workers should develop their skills while caring patients to lift treatment quality to meet patients’ demand and to turn the infirmary into a regional and world-class medical center in the future.
According to hospital director Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Tuan Canh, the hospital has made breakthroughs in medical checkup and treatment through 50 years. In the period 2009-2019, more than two million patients including 120,000 inpatients have undergone operation in the hospital, doubled the number in the period 1999-2009.
Surgeons have deployed new techniques including cochlear implants, aesthetic plastic surgery, navigation in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, laser surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy to treat cancer patients.
Also in the event, on behalf of the President and the Prime Minister, Minister Tien granted the Labor Medal to former Director and Vice Director of the Hospital, as well as the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit to the Hospital.
