New technique used in screening cervical cancer

Hung Vuong Obstetrics Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has been given the green light to implement new testing technique APTIMA HPV in screening cancer of the cervix, said hospital director Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet.

The hospital, the first infirmary in the country, is allowed to use the new testing techniques
APTIMA HPV test helps detecting oncogenic HPV types when positive results showed the female may be at increased risk of cervical cancer.
The Aptima HPV assay also offers the same excellent sensitivity and improved specificity compared to DNA-based tests.
With this new technique, medical workers just take samples and the Aptima HPV assay will be internally controlled which help reducing outside effects.
