Pig dies en mass in Can Tho City possibly because of foot- mouth disease
These days just before Tet till now, over 100 pigs died without clear reason in Thanh Phu Commune, the communal People Committee in Co Do District yesterday said.
Breeders threw away dead pigs into canals and rivers and dead animal carcasses have produced a flush of flies.
Deputy Chairman of Thanh Phu Commune People’s Committee Cao Long Ho said that local forces of the commune and the district authorities have been fishing the carcasses four days; they fished tens to 20 dead pigs a day averagely.
So far, animal health agency has popularized ways to bury dead animal carcasses to residents.
Although reports about massive dead pigs have been sent to the province’s Animal Health Department, the cause of the deaths hasn’t been verified. According to experienced breeders, the animal died of food-mouth disease.
