Surgeons remove massive tumor from kid’s kidneys

Surgeons of the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital in Hanoi have removed a massive tumor from a 6-year-old girl’s kidneys in a complicated operation, the hospital announced yesterday.

The six-year-old girl hailing from the central province of Nghe An was admitted to the hospital when she was suffering from a swollen abdomen.
After examining and conducting further tests, physicians discovered she had a massive Wilms tumor measuring 20cm in diameter which compressed other organs, causing pain and breathing problem for the girl.
They all agreed to use chemotherapy for her before carrying out a surgery, which they said would be a complex case.
After three –hour operation, surgeons removed a 2-kilogram tumor, measuring 20cm in diameter from the girl’s kidneys.
The surgery was successful, and she is now in remission.
