A 51-year-old man in Ho Chi Minh City died of swine flu on Sep.8, a day after being admitted to hospital, taking the death toll in Vietnam to four.

The man, a resident of Binh Chanh District, was rushed to Nguyen Tri Phuong hospital with high fever, cough, and breathing failure.

He died of kidney and breathing failure caused by A/H1N1 flu and the city Department of Health (DoH) said he was admitted too late.
On the same day 173 more people tested positive for swine flu, taking the number of confirmed cases to 3,950 so far, the Ministry of Health reported.
Of those, 3,249 have been released from hospital. The remaining patients remain in quarantine and are undergoing medical treatment but are in stable condition.

DoH director Nguyen Van Chau said one more city school, Hiep Binh High School in Thu Duc District, has been found to have infected students.

On the same day, students of Hanoi’s Medical University practiced flu prevention measures in hypothetical situations, the first in the country to attempt the drill.
