Young physicians carry out project to take care 10,000 dwellers’ health

Being an economic and financial center of the country, Ho Chi Minh authorities are trying to improve quality of life for their citizens by establishing good health habits which means people may enjoy longer, healthier, happier lives.

Accordingly, young physicians of Medicine University are implementing the project to take care of 10,000 city dwellers’ health because health status of urban dwellers is in the first place related to the economic situation.
Senior Nguyen Thi Can in suburban district Cu Chi’s Xuan Thoi Thuong commune said that her illness abated much thanks to consultation and regular examination of a group of young physicians from the university.
Not only her but also many residents in her neighbourhood including children and adults receive gratis medical check-ups and drugs, Ms. Can said.
The young physicians’ project has benefitted hundreds of locals in Xuan THoi THuong commune in the period 2017-2018. Pharmacist Truong Van Dat who designed the project named 10,000 said that with the aim to build a city of good life quality, the school strives that all dwellers can access conventional health care services through voluntary examinations.
The project focuses on blood pressure controlling, osteoporosis , breast cancer, ovarian cancer, dental health, physiotherapy, medicine usage, and drug cabinet gift.
Pharmacist Dat said that different from these programs before, young physicians in the 10,000 project will return the localities they have visited after two or three months for more consultation and examination and keep an eye on patients’ ailment development during two years. Hopefully, residents will have habit of going to medical centers for regular check-ups.
The university has assembled young graduate students into a club for the project. Within two years, the project members have provided examination on 12,534 residents in 20 districts and workers in industrial parks and export processing zones as well as students in the schools in the city.
Medicine university principal Dr. Tran Diep Tuan said that the project plays a pivotal role in helping residents to establish good health habit of periodic check-up to prevent diseases. it is an opportunities to help young lecturers and undergraduates to apply what they learn in school into reality to raise their skills and knowledge.
In addition to providing examination and consultation, the project also has different theme for each month; for instance, how to deal with small accidents such as burns, how to take care flu patients, dengue patients, how patients with high blood pressure live healthily.
In 2018, the project printed books with seven pages of keeping fitness for primary students.
