The Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Group on January 14 held a ceremony to honor 20 typical businessmen for their social and charitable contributions they have made during 2009 and 2010.
Ms Nguyen Thi Nhu Thuy, vice chairperson of city’s counsel for prize and discipline attended the meeting. The 20 businessmen and the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Group have held many social and charity programs, which have resulted in collecting hundreds of billions Vietnamese Dong each year.
The 20 businessmen are from the Dai Tin (Trust) Bank, Vissan Co. Ltd, BAT tobacco Company, LD Phu My Hung Company, and the Vietnam National Textile & Garment Group (Vinatex), to name but a few. These businessmen have also been awarded certificates and prizes from the city People’s Committee.

On the same day, SGGP presented 100 gifts (each worth VND 250,000) to 100 poor households from ward 17, in Go Vap District, and the Tan Xuan commune, from the Hoc Mon rural District, both in HCM city. This is part of a Tet gift program, carried out by the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Group and the Thien Nhan Charity Association, in order to help poor citizens and those people that have been affected by natural disasters.
Yesterday, the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Group supported and helped people from the Hiep Binh Chanh Ward and the Thu Duc District, with over 300 gifts (each worth VND 100,000). The gifts were given to the old, the handicapped and victims affected by the toxic Agent Orange - Dioxin. In addition, the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Group also presented 40 Tet gifts to poor people that live in Ward 16, District 4 and Ward 3, from the Binh Thanh province.
