Another taxi company suspended at Tan Son Nhat Airport

Ministry of Transport on Thursday revoked license of the Happy Taxi Company at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, said Thach Nhu Sy, deputy chief inspector at the ministry’s inspectorate.

The Happy Taxi Company was found violating several regulations while running operations at the airport. The company had declared 276 taxis in its fleet and the Transport Department had accordingly sanctioned use of 276 trademarks. However, in actuality the company was operating with only 108 cabs.

The company had illegally sold the remaining trademarks to other cabs operating in the Mekong Delta provinces of Long An, Tien Giang and Can Tho City.

When inspectors asked to check 43 of the company’s cabs, they could only mobilize 15, showing poor organization of the company management.

Happy Taxi had also registered for 462 drivers but inspectors found that only 125 drivers were registered in the company’s log books.

The inspectorate also issued a fine of VND2.5 million to five cabs operating in HCMC with provincial license plates.

Suspension orders will apply until the company rectifies all violations.

Happy Taxi Company is the third company to be suspended by the transport inspectorate at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, after Petrolimex and Festival Taxi companies were suspended on December 20.
