The 160 booths display various products from 150 local and foreign businesses, including plastic outdoor and indoor furniture, wooden items, decorative items and engines and machines imported from the US, UK, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Among the participating firms, 62 percent make wood products, 19 percent major in making lacquers with the remaining conducting business in the service industry. Of the 150 businesses joining the fair, about 60 came from abroad.

Nguyen Chien Thang, Chairman of the HCMC Handicraft and Wood Industry Association (HAWA) believed that the fair is a good chance for the local wood and lacquer processing industry to find new markets.

The fair this year already welcomed about 700 business groups and representatives from 64 countries, such as the U.S, the U.K, Australia, Canada, China and New Zealand. It is an opportunity for local businesses to meet and understand the needs for overseas markets, Mr. Thang added.

The fair is co-organized by HAWA and the Lien Minh Handicrafts and Fine Arts Co. This is the second time that the fair has been held since its debut in 2008.
