City institute wants to pay overseas Vietnamese experts up to VND17 mln salary

Vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Nguyen Thanh Tai, has sought the city Party Committee’s approval to pay overseas Vietnamese experts working at the city’s Computing Technology and Science Institute monthly salaries of VND12 to 17 million.

According to the suggestion, the institution head would get VND17 million (slightly more than US$1,000), the deputy head VND15 million, and heads of research departments VND12 million.
The amounts are based on the salary of VND15 million the Biotechnology Center pays its deputy director, also an overseas Vietnamese.
The institute was set up last year to conduct research in basic and applied sciences and management strategies and policies, implement computing science projects, and provide consultancy in science and technology.
