At the receipt, the city Party Chief highly appreciated visits of the senior leaders of the two countries, including the two working journeys of US President Donald Trump.

Besides that, he also welcomed that the United States gave supports for the freedom of movement for vessels and freedom of navigation in the East Sea, dioxin detoxification projects in Vietnam, and joined overcoming the consequences of war.

Secretary Nhan thanked the country for helping Vietnam to join the United Nations peacekeeping forces.

Regarding the economy, both sides achieved great results; in particular, Ho Chi Minh City launched many cooperation programs with the United States such as a center for simulation-based traffic congestion in the city, cooperation in the education and training sectors between Ho Chi Minh City and the US departments.

On the occasion, Secretary Nhan informed the new Consul General about the city’s socio-economic situation and focused on the construction of smart cities including financial centers and innovative start-up centers.

Therefore, HCMC hoped that the US enterprises would continue paying attentions and investment in the above fields, aiming to promote the city’s development.

The city Party Chief also offered his belief to the newly- appointed Consul General during the working term, contributing to relationship development between Vietnam and the US in general, and between Ho Chi Minh City and the US in particular.

According to Ms. Marie C. Damour, the recent, forthcoming visits of the two countries’ senior leaders will contribute to strongly affirming good relations between the two countries towards the comprehensive strategic partnership.

The United States always considers Vietnam as one of priority countries in the Indo-Pacific strategy in the fields of trade and investment.
