City Party Chief visits SGGP Newspaper & HTV

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of National Fatherland Front Committee of Vietnam Nguyen Thien Nhan visited Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Television yesterday.

The Party Chief expressed his pleasure to visit the new head office of SGGP newspaper which has just been inaugurated.

SGGP newspaper has plentiful contents of daily international and domestic diplomatic information in parallel with cultural, sports and politic events which deserve its role as the voice of the City’s Party Committee, authority and people. 

The staffs and officers of the press agency have always made efforts in innovating and improving its quality and form to attract more readers. On May 5, SGGP Newspaper launched new version of Sai Gon Giai Phong Online.

Following the City secretary's visit was Head of the Department of Propaganda and Training of the HCMC Party Committee Than Thi Thu; deputy Chairwoman of HCMC People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thu and other leaders of departments, agencies.
At the meeting, Ms. Than Thi Thu affirmed that SGGP is a prestigious newspaper contributing to orient public opinion and create a consensus among the people.

She also praised activities and programs of the newspapers in previous time. 
On behalf of staffs, officers, Editor-in-Chief of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper Nguyen Tan Phong reported the current operation of the newspaper.

SGGP newspaper has completed well political mission, diversified its content and popularized guidelines and directions of the city’s Party Committee to the readers, said the editor in chief. Besides, the newspaper achieved national and city press awards.

"Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper will continue to provide hot news and true information to readers", added Phong.

Mr. Nhan asked SGGP newspaper should focus on major problems which the city has been suffered as flooding, traffic jam, public order, environment…

The leader asked Department of Propaganda and Training of the HCMC Party Committee and HCMC Press Association to hold training courses for journalists of 38 Newspaper Citiwide.

On the same day, the Party Chief Nguyen Thien Nhan visited Ho Chi Minh City Television.

At the meeting with the staffs and officers, the leader affirmed that HTV has well implemented its functions and mission in previous years. HTV had activities and programs linked to life, patriotism of Vietnamese people at home and abroad. He requested the press agency to innovate its management in combination with jobs of each staff and officer.  

The Party Chief again affirmed important role of the city’s two leading press agencies as SGGP Newspaper and HTV.
