A delegation led by Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee visited Vietnamese and Cambodian workers at the construction site of Cho Ray Hospital in Phnom Penh on February 5 to convey good wishes on occasion of Tet Lunar New Year.

The visit was within the framework of a working visit to the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, to further enhance cooperation between HCMC and Phnom Penh City.
Tran Trung Viet, Chairman of Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital told the HCMC Party Secretary that after over one year since construction began, more than 70 percent of the construction for the first phase of the project was already complete.
Viet also said that according to the general contractor, Saigon Construction Corporation, by the end of March, the construction and installation of equipment will be complete and the hospital will begin free treatment for the poor by mid April.
On May 15, the first building containing 200 patient beds will be opened.
Total investment for the first phase of the project is more than US$41 million. The hospital has been designed with modern French technology with six well equipped high-tech operating rooms.
Mr. Le Thanh Hai sincerely thanked Cambodia’s People’s Party, the Phnom Penh City authorities, and the contribution of the investors, engineers and workers of the two countries.
He hoped that the workers would welcome the traditional Lunar New Year on the construction site with high spirits.
On this occasion, Mr. Le Thanh Hai said HCMC leaders had decided to present all staff, engineers and workers of the two countries VND500,000 for each person to enjoy a happy Tet.
