Ho Chi Minh City will celebrate the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for a patriotic movement on June 11, 1948, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tai, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, has said.
The Emulation and Awards Board has been entrusted with holding the event as well as the 97th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s departure abroad in the quest for national salvation.
On June 5, 1911, he boarded the Latouche Treville Admiral at Nha Rong Wharf on the Saigon River for a long journey to find a solution to liberate the country from the French colonialists. He traveled for 30 years to 28 countries.
His travels partly helped shape the ideals that he has left for the nation and his thoughts on building an independent, democratic, prosperous, and powerful country.
To mark the occasion, an “emulation movement’ has been launched at all state-owned companies.
