Former Secretary of HCMC Party Committee passes away

Comrade Vo Tran Chi, a former Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, died Wednesday at the age of 84 after a long illness, announced the Party Central Committee yesterday ( Nov 17).


Comrade Chi (alias Hai Chi) was born in 1927 in the Mekong Delta province of Long An and held high- ranking posts in HCMC. He had devoted 60 years to revolutionary activities and was bestowed the Ho Chi Minh Order, the second highest national order. He was also awarded the medal for 60 years as member of the Communist Party besides other esteemed awards.

He has been laid in state honor at the HCMC Party Committee Hall on Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street. The burial ceremony will take place   morning of Nov 20.


A State funeral will be held today in HCMC. Comrade Le Hong Anh, standing member of the CPV Secretariat and Politburo member will head the organizing committee for the funeral ceremony.
