In the last day, the council elected city deputy Party chief Le Hoang Quan mayor to replace Mr. Le Thanh Hai, who was appointed city Party secretary early July.

The new city mayor said in his new post, he would immediately focus on solutions to the resettlement of dwellers affected by infrastructure development projects, environmental protection, the quality of the infrastructure development projects, urban management and zoning, and corruption.

City Party secretary Le Thanh Hai stressed that the city authority is carrying out many laws and decrees, thus facing many related problems.

“Therefore, city officials must be hardworking. We have to give full support to the city dwellers and businesses, and have to shoulder the problems,” Mr. Hai said.

The council session passed the resolution for the city’s socio-economic development in the second half of the year, and five resolutions on adjusting the city’s overall zoning map until 2025; supporting post-habilitation drug addicts to integrate into the community; adjusting the zoning for land use until 2010 and for the outlook until 2020; adjusting the geographic borders within the city; and setting up more district-level clinics.
