HCMC bars vehicles from entering city downtown

Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport Vo Khanh Hung yesterday said that city authorities will impose a ban all vehicles to enter the city’s downtown area for traffic safety during the New Year celebration ceremony.

Specifically, all vehicles are barred from entering the section from Hoang Dieu Street to Khanh Hoi Bridge in Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in district 4; from Me Linh Square to Khanh Hoi Bridge in Ton Duc Thang Street in district 1 and Hai Trieu Street, Ham Nghi Street, Nguyen Hue Street and Dong Khoi Street in district 1 from 8PM of December 31 to midnight of January 1, 2019.
Vehicles drivers will travel in replacing streets. Moreover, they should notice that parking is not allowed on bridges including Khanh Hoi, Mong, Calmette, Ong Lanh, Thu Thiem, Sai Gon, Phu My, and bridge in Mai Chi Tho Street and roof of the Saigon River’s tunnel to watch fireworks performance.
Additionally, drivers must follow traffic wardens’ guidance or signs in streets.
