HCMC constructing the tumor Center of Cho Ray Hospital

On Dec 16, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the ceremony of constructing the tumor Center of Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City ( see photo).


The centre will cover an area of 1,900 square meters and consist of 14 floors with 250 beds. Its total investment capital, sourced from government bonds, is about VND428 billion (US$20 million).


Its functions include examinations and early detection as well as diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients


In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, PM Dung stressed the urgent need to build the centre to ease the burdens on the overloaded Cho Ray Hospital.


He expressed hope the hospital will uphold its reputation as the southern region’s leading hospital requested every effort to ensure the project is completed on time. He added that the government will soon allocate capital to build a second Cho Ray hospital with 1,000 additional beds.


Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that the construction of the "Cancer Center of Cho Ray Hospital", is a practical work contributing to reducing the burden of treating patients at Cho Ray Hospital and the Cancer Tumor Hospital in Binh Thanh distirct Ho Chi Minh City.


The city’s current oncology hospital is located at No Trang Long street, Ward 14, Binh Thanh District.


Currently, many oncology hospitals nationwide are suffering from patient overloading, especially in the HCMC Oncology Hospital.
