HCMC gives more incentives to Samsung’s billion dollar project

At a extraordinary meeting on September 11, the 8th People’s Council in Ho Chi Minh City voted on the People’s Committee’s proposal of giving additional incentives to Samsung Group’s odd-US$1 billion project in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

Delegates also passed establishment of the HCMC Department of Tourism and renaming of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism into Department of Culture and Sports.
Deputy Chairwoman of the city People’s Council Truong Thi Anh announced that the People’s Council member Truong Vi Kien has been taken into custody for investigation over property appropriation.

On August 27, the permanent People’s Council suspended Kien from his position of the 8th People’s Council member.
Since 1998, Kien has been director general of the Tan Cuong Thanh Company.
