HCMC ICT Awards 2019 officially kicks off

The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Department of Information and Communications yesterday formally launched the Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) Awards 2019, themed ‘Journey to Become a Smart City’

This HCMC ICT Awards 2019 aims at discovering and honoring spectacular ICT products, solutions that have positive effects on the project ‘Transforming HCMC into a Smart City from 2017 – 2020, with Vision to 2025’.

The awards are divided into six categories of business with exceptional software solution; business with outstanding hardware solution; business with excellent value-added service; unit with most effective implementation of ICT; unit or individual with exceptional contribution to ICT development in HCMC; and ICT student with outstanding learning or researching result.

Nominations are submitted from August 8 to September 30, 2019, followed by the evaluation process until November 11, 2019. The award ceremony is supposed to be held in this December.

The winner of each category is expected to receive the prize of VND100 million (approx. $4,300).

After 18 months carrying out the project ‘Transforming HCMC into a Smart City’, certain encouraging achievements have been seen, especially in the four focused aspects of a  common database and an open database ecosystem; an operation center for a smart city; an information security center; and a simulation center to forecast socio-economic situations.

In the upcoming time, there is a real need for practical ICT solutions or products to effectively boost the completion of this project.
