HCMC launches connected emergency switchboards system

Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on May 21 announced a plan to operate a system that connects three emergency switchboards 113, 114, 115 after a month trial.

From May 21, HCMC citizens can dial any of the three numbers to get assistances from authorized agencies such as police, firefighters, medical workers and rescue forces.

Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Manh Ha said that the connectivity would increase the effectiveness of information receipt, accident handling and rescue operations to minimize human and property damages.

HCMC is the first in the country implementing the system that has been built and run by the Department of Information and Communications, Steering Boards for Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue, Police and Health Departments.

Previously on February 6, HCMC officially functioned telephone number 1022 replacing (08) 39111333 to receive information on urban infrastructures such as fallen trees, road depression, breakdown drainage and public lighting systems, bus quality and others. The new number is easier to remember for residents.
