In the conference, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Head of the Committee on Science – Technology – Environment under the National Assembly, stressed the importance of Industry 4.0 in all aspects of life and its critical role in any national development. Resolution No.52-NQ/TW was born because of that reason.

He further explained that digital technologies are widely applied to form novel international business and service models, along with the popular use of artificial intelligence. However, he commented that Vietnam’s active participation in Industry 4.0 is quite low.

Therefore, Dr. Dung suggested that the Vietnamese have to more enthusiastically grasp any possible opportunities that Industry 4.0 delivers to create socio-economic breakthroughs for the nation. In addition, citizens and organizations should actively limit negative influences of this Revolution on themselves in order to ensure their sustainable growth.

To achieve those goals, the local authorities should prepare proper policies to promote the development of digital economy based on science – technology, innovation, and high-quality human resources. These will in turn bring about an upgrade in living standards for the community.

Dr. Dung highly appreciated all contributions of HCMC to the national development, saying that the city’s growth directly and significantly affects the national one.

At the moment, HCMC is a mega center in Vietnam as to several fields, including science – technology and human resources. It is also the national leader in implementing nationwide policies.

Thus, Dr. Dung firmly believed the city will maintain its first position in applying cutting edge technologies while taking part in Industry 4.0.

Attending the conference were Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party’s Committee, and other high ranking officials in the city.
