HCMC plans festival to ring in the New Year

Ho Chi Minh City, the economic capital of Vietnam, will be welcoming the New Year this year from December 26 with a festival themed “Ho Chi Minh City welcomes New Year”.

The New Year festival will be celebrated at the Sep 23 Park in District 1 from December 26 to January 1.

The festival will feature music shows, traditional games and the 6th International Food Festival.

The event is aimed to promote specialties from many countries across the world and also teach visitors how to cook some traditional dishes from various countries.

HCMC authorities will also organize an exhibition to introduce the City’s achievements in 2011.

City authorities will decorate four major streets in the center of the City, such as Nguyen Hue Street, Le Loi Street, Dong Khoi Street and Le Duan Street with lamps and flowers to welcome the coming New Year.
