HCMC prepares compensation policies to Thu Thiem residents

The standing board of HCMC Party Committee yesterday listened to the reports by the civil affair commission of the city People’s Committee about expected compensation policies to 321 households in Thu Thiem new urban area.
These households have been determined to locate in the 4.3 hectares portion outside the boundary of Thu Thiem new urban area according to the Government Inspectorate’s Annoucement on September 4.
After hearing the reports, the standing board gave opinions as follows.
The board agreed with keeping unchanged the portion planned for traffic development of Thu Thiem new urban area in the 4.3 hectares for public interests. The leftover part in the 4.3 hectares will be used for service, trade and resettlement apartment block.
The board assigned the civil affair commission of the HCMC People’s Committee to propose compensation policies for material and spiritual damage of 321 households determined to locate in the 4.3 hectares according to the Government Inspectorate’s conclusion.
About compensation policies, the standing board said that the resettlement for 321 households in the 4.3 hectares has been implemented according to the plan of the 4.3 hectares and the actual demand of these households.
Specifically, the board tasked relevant agencies to continue considering futher compensation to make up damage for 166 households, who had received compensation and resettlement apartments or land plots outside the 4.3 hectares area.
To the remaining of 155 households, relevant agencies have been assigned to prepare three resettlement measures basing on characteristics of residents’ properties before site clearance. The first solution is to resettle them in apartment blocks in the 4.3 hectares according to plan. The second way is to compensate and give them land near the 4.3 hectares. The third solution is to resettle them in apartment blocks outside the 4.3 hectares.
The standing board assigned the civil affair commission to require District 2 People’s Committee to meet each of 321 households determined in the 4.3 hectare area to further talk to them about the expeted compenstation policies and listen to their opinions from December this year to mid January next year.
The standing board agreed with the draft plan to take care of disadvantageous households who have removed for Thu Thiem new urban area project in the coming Tet holiday.
HCMC Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee have been making efforts to improve compensation policies in association with the law toward most benefiting residents.
So residents should keep calm and should not attend in activities not according to the law on order security, the board said.
