HCMC to invest $187 million in 115 projects

Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has signed a decision to approve a plan to invest VND4,260 billion (US$187 million) in 115 projects which will be built  by 2020 at the latest.

Of the total funds, VND3,960 billion will come from the city budget while the remaining fund will be raised from other sources.

According to the decision, investors are responsible for making feasibility study reports in line with the policy and submitting the reports to authorized agencies to decide investment.

The Department of Planning and Investment is in charge of inspecting and supervising the implementation of the projects and report to the city People’s Committee.

Of the 115, 37 projects are in the education and training field with the total capital of VND1,192 billion. The most noticeable one is to upgrade Thanh An secondary and high school in Thanh An island commune, Can Gio district.

The new school comprising six classrooms, function rooms and auxiliary items will be built at the total cost of VND44.8 billion in 2017-2018.

The idea of the new school was formed during a visit to the island of secretary of the city Party Committee Dinh La Thang last April. Witnessing difficult study conditions of local students, he instructed Can Gio district to build a new school there.

Besides the above, there are six health projects; one science and technology; 14 culture, sport and social projects; nine environment, 11 traffic and three agriculture.
