Technical infrastructural planning for the underground works of electricity, telecoms and drainage in Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Van Troi street in Ho Chi Minh City should be completed so that the street innovation project can start.
According to Nguyen Viet Son, Deputy Manager of the Ho Chi According to Nguyen Viet Son, Deputy Manager of Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Transport and Urban Public Works, there is currently sluggishness in the execution of widening the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street project, which started in Dec, 2005.
On February 20, the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department met with relevant parties in the project.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Son stressed that the city must complete the underground works plan before executing the construction. Telecommunication cable, electricity wire, and water pipe have to be installed before work can begin.
This coincides with the city’s environmental improvement project in July, 2006, he added.
According to the investor Urban Transport Project Management Unit No.1, there are currently around 20 underground structures intended for the street. This is one of the reasons for the delay.
Another reason, presented by the designing consultant, is the lack of a detailed design plan while the 5-phase project must be carried out together with other underground works, said a representative for the construction unit.
