Insurance evaders to face criminal charges

Ho Chi Minh City's Social Security will ask police to pursue criminal proceedings against companies that have been holding back social insurance payments.

The municipal People’s Committee assigned the Social Security to inspect and issue harsh penalties on violators of insurance regulation.
As per the plan, it strived that 53 percent and 57 percent of laborers will have social insurance by 2021 and 2025 respectively.
Moreover, the Social Security will transfer document to police that file legal proceedings against intentional violators. The city People’s Court will work with relevant agencies to remove barriers of legal proceedings.
According to the People’s Committee’s figures, there has been a surge in the number of insurance participants including 50.65 percent and 50.54 percent of social buyers and unemployment buyers respectively, exceeding the plan.
However, the proportion is still low compared to the population and labor force scale. Plus, Evaders of social insurance premiums are rampant and slight penalties can’t deter them from committing the crime.
