Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the municipal Department of Health yesterday inaugurated Children’s Hospital, located at 15 Tran Van Chi Street in Binh Chanh District, after four year construction.

The hospital went into operation expecting to share load with the two other available children hospitals in district 1 and 10 which are often overcrowded with patients from neighboring provinces.
According to director of the city Department of Health Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Binh, the 1,000-bed hospital was broken ground on December 6, 2014 at the cost of VND4.5 trillion ($188 million) on the area of 12,000 square meter. It comprises of one basement and eight floors.
The hospital has ten specific rooms and 39 departments.
It is designed as a practical hospital as a combination of an international-standard institute and a school. Especially, the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art devices to provide sophisticated techniques for treating child patients.
Former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Party Chief Le Thanh Hai, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Deputy Party Chief Vo Thi Dung and leaders of agencies attended the inauguration ceremony.
