Operation date of city’s metro line projects adjusted

HCMC’s first metro line will be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2021 rather than in 2020 as earlier planned, according to the HCMC Department of Transport.

The municipal Department of Transport has sent a report on the appraisal of adjustments to the city's metro line projects, Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien and Ben Thanh-Tham Luong, to the city People’s Committee on September 3.
Additionally, the Transport Department has also asked the Management Board of Urban Railway (MAUR) to coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment of HCMC to complete report on the appraisal of adjustments of the project.
For the Metro Line No 2 Project, Ben Thanh-Tham Luong, the result of capital resources assessment is expected to be provided on September 20 by ministries. Afterward, the Assessment Committee for city's metro line projects will report assessment results to the municipal People’s Committee for approval on September 30. The planned completion date of the project will be adjusted and expected to finish from 2024-2026.
On August 19, Vice chairman of the People’s Committee of HCMC, Vo Van Hoan asked the assessment will be promptly carried out by the Assessment Committee for city's metro line projects, to send them to relevant agencies. Documents can be reported to the HCMC People’s Council to allocate from its own budget by 15 October 2019.
The MAUR must propose methods to solve issues in projects, answer petitions of the State Audit Office of Vietnam and send reports to the municipal People’s Committee. It also forecasts and checks the amount of assessment from now until the end of this year to ensure the disbursement of investment capital for the project.
