Southeast Asia Youth Program delegates arrive in HCMC

Deputy chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, has warmly welcomed delegates of the Southeast Asia Youth Program (SSEAYP) who arrived aboard the Japanese vessel Nippon Maru yesterday.

During their four-day visit to the city, the 329 representatives from 10 ASEAN member nations and Japan will visit some historical and cultural monuments, take part in cultural exchanges, and put on arts performances along with local youths.

They will visit Dai Nam tourism area and have exchanges with firms in Becamex Industrial Park in the city’s neighboring Binh Duong province.

The vessel will continue its Southeast Asian tour next Saturday, leaving Vietnam for the Philippines.

The Southeast Asian Youth Program, instituted in 1974, has involved 8,500 youths so far. It seeks to deepen mutual understanding and maintain friendship and goodwill among youths in the region.
