Spring flower festival open

Mr. Hua Ngoc Thuan, vice chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, February 5 cut ribbon to open the  spring flower festival in the city.

The festival features over 8,000 bonsai, flower, artistic rocks and aquariums by 600 artisans nationwide. Some unique products like loc vung (Indian Oak or Barringtonia acutangula) tree of artisan Ba That who has participated in the festival for 33 years; collection of 36 Oncidium Swartz species.

Especially with the theme “ Vietnam Posture” the festival reflect peaceful villages in the North surrounded with thick bamboo hedges, village gates, rice fields.

The event will also include other several cultural and artistic activities, including traditional art performances, folk games, a human chess contest, calligraphy, paintings and food stalls. Moreover, a special program will show famous dances of Vietnam and Korea as well as Japanese tea ceremony.

The festival will last until February 16 in Tao Dan Park.
