Two HCM City major bridges open to traffic

Nguyen Van Cu and Chu Y bridges, two major ones in Ho Chi Minh City, opened to traffic on April 28, linking the downtown areas with southern districts.

Nguyen Van Cu Bridge, which spans the Ben Nghe-Tau Hu Canal and link Districts 1 and 5 north of the canal to districts 4 and 8 south of it. The bridge is 1,110 meter long and 16.5 meter wide.

Construction of the bridge started in March 2005. Now, the bridge eases traffic shouldered by Chu Y Bridge, which also opened to traffic on April 28 to replace an old bridge with the same name.

Chu Y Bridge is part of the East-West Highway, a major infrastructure project which is under in the city currently.
