Typhoon Tembin prompts resident evacuation in Can Gio, Nha Be

Standing deputy chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem yesterday inspected and guided operations to cope with Typhoon Tembin and resident evacuation in Can Gio and Nha Be districts.

Can Gio district People’s Committee reported that the district has informed and guided 1,059 boats at sea to seek safer shelters and forbid others from going out to sea.
Local authorities have prepared for evacuation of 4,962 people from unsafe places to take shelter in schools and cultural houses and helped fortify 503 houses.
Nha Be district People’s Committee has contacted owners of ferries and required them to stop operation when the typhoon makes landfall, prepared to remove 247 households out from landslide areas.
The district has fortified 637 houses and arranged 34 headquarters of government agencies, schools and cultural centers for residents to move in.
Mr. Liem required Can Gio to remove all residents out from unsafe houses and permit students to stay at home on December 25 and 26. Nha Be should evacuate households from 16 landslide spots alongside rivers and canals.
He required district people’s committees to lower cranes in construction sites and take the initiative in cutting tree branches to ensure safety while waiting for workers from Green Tree and Park Company to do so.
