Urban planning consultancies short of high quality human resource

Consulting businesses in urban development planning field reported a shortage of high quality human resource, insufficient funds to collect data and update information, complicated disbursement procedure in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.
They were speaking at a workshop hosted by the city Department of Planning and Architecture.
Vietnamese consultants have been tied with many regulations related to planning expense while they have been flexible for foreign consulting firms, cited architect Nguyen Truong Luu, chairman of the HCMC Architects Association.
Many domestic companies working for foreign firms to implement plans in Vietnam have been paid twice higher than that by local agencies.
In addition, they have met with a shortage of data stores necessary for planning so many plans built by Vietnamese consulting firms have used old data since ten years ago.
Those have caused many plans soon outdated after being approved.
A representative of HCMC Architecture and Construction Company said that the company had a plan built since 2009 but disbursement has yet to complete so far.
Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thanh Nha said that the department will synthesize all opinions from experts and companies and report to authorized agencies. The agency will work directly with companies and relevant agencies to solve problems within its competence.
