Warm welcome for overseas Vietnamese during Tet

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee plans to hold a welcome reception for overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet (Lunar New Year) on January 25.

The reception will also be an opportunity for the city authorities to hear the experiences and expectations of overseas Vietnamese and to present the many achievements made by the city in 2010.

The results of the 9th HCMC Party Committee Congress and the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam will also be presented.

The city proposes to commend and reward those overseas Vietnamese who have made great contribution to their country and to the development of Ho Chi Minh City.

The reception will be held from 5pm to 9pm at 111 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, District 3.

Overseas Vietnamese can collect their invitations from the office of the HCMC Committee for Overseas Vietnamese at 147 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3.

According to Dr. Luong Bach Van, chairwoman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese in HCMC, her organization will have a festive celebration called  “Overseas Vietnamese and Integration”  at the Reunification Palace on January 22  to welcome overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet.
