Democratic People’s Republic of Korea leader Kim passes away

Kim Jong-Il, leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, died of a heart attack on December 17 at the age of 69, AFP quoted the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

He passed away at 8:30 am Pyongyang time.

KCNA also called on the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to support the late leader’s youngest son, General Kim Jong-Un, to become the new leader.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that its Government was shocked with the news and summoned an emergency meeting.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is undertaking a period of national mourning from December 17 to 29, according to AFP.
