The two forces eventually stopped a passenger bus suspected to be used in the smuggling operation on September 20. A raid was launched resulting in seizure of suitcase with four packages of a white substance believed to be cocaine. These packages weighed 3.2 kilogram.
No one admitted to be its owner.
On the same day, Ekene Etemba, a Nigerian man born in 1990, was caught red-handed carrying 4 kilograms of crystal meth-like substance in the National highway No.9 ( the section through Huong Hoa District of Quang Tri Province)
Border guards and relevant agencies continued to expand their investigation. They found 11 packages weighing 7.5 kilograms of the same substance in Duc Nhan restaurant in Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa District.
Probing into the case, the Border Station of the Lao Bao Border Gate arrested 20-year-old Omeje Jonson Chibu of Nigeria nationality for illegal entrance. The Nigerian man then confessed to leave the bag at the restaurant.
The arrested men work for an international drug trafficking ring operating in the Golden Triangle, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
