The discovery came after an unscheduled visit by the city’s departments of culture and society to Tan Phuoc Hai Production, Construction and Trading.

The company, run by Dang Huu Nguyen, has allegedly been producing pirated CDs and DVDs for shops for some time.

The company is said to have many supply contracts, with each contract worth between VND30 to 40 million (US$1,685 to $2,247).

The company had also been found to have hired two Indonesians without labor contracts and official registration papers.

On the same day, the departments also asked for a warrant to enter a house in Phu Nhuan District.

The departments found numerous pirated CDs and DVDs at the house.

The house owner, Nguyen Thi Cam Nang, said that her house was leased to Nguyen Phuong Quy Hiep.

The departments seized over 23 boxes of discs, 50 bags of disc covers and computers.
