The Government has approved a request from the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) to liquidate piling stocks, allowing it to export low-quality coal through Van Gia transshipment area in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
|The Government has given the green light to the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group to export three million tons of low-quality coal a year to liquidate its growing stockpile|
Though the group has a stockpile of over six million tons, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has only permitted it to export three million tons or less a year.
The ministry has also told Vinacomin to assume full responsibility for complying with coal export regulations, developing delivery processes at domestic ports, transporting coal to Van Gia, and completing export procedures.
It wants the group to bolster its internal regulations to prevent and penalize coal smugglers.
