Petrol trading violations to be fined maximum VND70 million

Petro businesses found violating trading regulations will be fined VND5 million to VND70 million under a new decree approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, aimed to crack down on trade offenders.

Technical faults resulting in inaccurate petrol measuring will be fined VND20-30 million.

Irregularities such as selling prices not matching quoted rates and selling of adulterated petrol with cheaper products to increase profit margins will all be fined from VND10-20 million.

The new decree will take effect from January 1, 2012.
