Traveler Detained for Sneaking Five Rhino Horns into Viet Nam

On Dec. 3 customs officials found five illicitly imported rhinocero horns worth over VND6 billion (US$375,257) from a passenger at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport.

Ha Noi-born, Tran Van Lap, 4 7,who stepped off flight SQ0479 from Singapore    told authorities that  an overseas Vietnamese returning home from South Africa and stopping off in Singapore had hired him to carry the horns into Viet Nam.

HCMC Customs handed over Lap and the contraband to the HCMC Investigative Bureau Police for further investigation.
