3,780 poor households in Hanoi to receive rehabilitation support

The People’s Committee in Hanoi have decided to spend VND94.5 billion (US$4.7 million) to support 3,780 poor households in the city to rebuild and repair their homes.

Accordingly, each household will receive VND20 million ($1,000) from the state budget and VND5 million ($250) from a fund meant for the poor.

Poor families can now avail of a maximum loan of VND8 million ($400) from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies at an interest rate of 3 percent per year.

The city has asked relevant agencies to collect the necessary data to implement distribution of funds by 31st December 2011.

During 2009-2010, the city had also helped rebuild and repair 7,467 houses for the poor and impoverished with a VND 117.5 billion ($5.9 million) fund, from the state budget.
