Action month for environment launched in Vietnam

A ceremony was hosted in Hanoi yesterday in respond to World Environment Day with the attendance of 1,000 activists, students and local citizens, kicking off the action month for environment in the country.

At the ceremony, leaders of the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Committee, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment attended in planting trees around Hoan Kiem Lake.
Hanoi has set a target to have an extra of one million trees and 25 parks including five Southeast Asia and world standards by 2020.
On the same day, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment worked with the People’s Committee in District 3 in Ho Chi Minh City to organize a meeting marking the World Environment Day.
After the meeting, representatives of high schools in the district signed an emulation agreement to implement an environmental protection communication program this year.
