The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the central city of Da Nang on December 24 welcomed Patrick Farmer, Australian ultra marathon athlete, who is scheduled to run the length of Vietnam from north to south.

Farmer has recently completed an incredible 21,000 km run from the North to the South Pole early this year.

He and his partner, Mai Nguyen Dinh Huy, a new BA graduate from an Australian university, will start their 3,000 km run across the length of Vietnam through 30 provinces and cities from Mong Cai Town in the northern province of Quang Ninh to Ca Mau Province at the southern-most tip of Vietnam.

The Australian is undertaking the ultra marathon run across the length of Vietnam to raise funds for clean water projects for the underprivileged in Vietnam.

At an average, he and his partner will run 12 hours a day covering 70-80 kilometers.
