All paper bags were made by the city’s union members.

The bags were handed out to mark UNESCO recognizing Cham Islet as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Earlier, Hoi An’s administration launched a “Cham Islet does not use plastic bags” program.

Currently, most local residents only use plastic baskets, but their use leads to waste and bags littering the scenic area.

Cham Islet is 20 kilometers offshore from Hoi An Ancient Town.
