Breaking ground for the first measuring station

Mr. Tran The Ngoc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment said, in recent days, the ground in many southern areas of the city had sunk about 5-14cm showing even the pipes of bore wells, but the cause has not yet been found.

The construction of this station will specify the exact cause of ground sinking and is expected to take two years 2006-2007 to complete. Besides, the Department will also complete two other stations in Da Phuoc and Tan Tao Commune (Binh Chanh District) on December 2006.

In the remaining time, they will focus on recording the technical parameters of sinking measurement, identifying the causes, verifying the results and taking over the work. At the same time, they will start to construct other eleven stations.
