Addressing the gathering, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung hailed the Vietnam Fatherland Front for its efforts to expand the ‘great national unity’ and set up emulation movements, contributing to the country’s social and economic advancement.

It has also contributed to the strengthening of the Party, and building a law-governed state of the people, by the people and for the people, he said.

It has helped strengthen the relationship between the State and the people, thus becoming a key player in the country’s development, he added.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front gave away prizes to 64 media stories “For the cause of great national unity.”

An A-prize went to “Dat Viet giua trung duong” (Vietnam amidst the ocean waves) by author Truong Duc Minh Tu, while 10 B prizes, 19 C prizes, and 34 consolation prizes were also awarded.

Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper had three winning works, including two C prizes for Thao Lu and Pham Ba Nhieu’s stories and a consolation prize for Doan Hiep-Tuan Hoang.

The Fatherland Front is the country’s umbrella political and social organization and the Vietnam National United Front was its predecessor.
