Citizens More Optimistic About Economy

Positive perception of the economy, employment, and worker’s income increased 7.5 percent since the first six months of 2013, according to a survey conducted by the National Center for Socio-Economic Information and Forecasting under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

These figures show improvement compared to a previous survey conducted revealing 41 percent optimism.

The center also announced a survey on the effects of urbanization revealed 49.5 percent of consumers are still pessimistic about improvement of the economy.

The Center also conducted a survey regarding effects of urbanization in the northern province of Bac Ninh, the central city of Da Nang, and the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The survey said urbanization has positive effects on residents.

One-third of 900 survey participants reclaimed land for development and received compensation for clearance and resettlement.  The average income of participants was VND 101 million (US$4,797) with 44 percent living on salary, 28 percent working business and services, 9 percent work independent hire, 12 percent work handicrafts and 12 percent work on farms.
