City Chairman welcomes Governor-General of New Zealand

Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on August 7 welcomed Mr. Jerry Mateparae, Governor-General of New Zealand at the Reunification Palace on occasion of his state visit to Vietnam.

Chairman Quan said that Ho Chi Minh City will carry out many cooperation programs with New Zealand, which have just been signed, in the fields such as climate change, development projects, and education and training.

Chairman Quan added that the City authorities will create favorable conditions for New Zealand businesses to invest in HCMC.

On behalf of City leaders, Chairman Le Hoang Quan suggested New Zealand leaders also create favorable conditions to establish partnership between Auckland City and HCMC in various fields.

Mr. Jerry Mateparae also met with students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences to introduce the New Zealand education system in Vietnam, in particular, education cooperation between Auckland University of Technology and the University of Natural Sciences.

On this occasion, Research Institute of Southern fruit, Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology, and the Horticulture and Food Research Institute of New Zealand held a workshop to announce a project themed ‘Development of New Quality Fruit Seed of Vietnam-New Zealand’ at the Caravelle Hotel.
