Construction of the Hanoi’s first overhead road, which will extend from north of Linh Dam Lake to the Thanh Xuan intersection, officially got underway on June 22, said the Thang Long Project Management Board.

The lake is in Hoang Mai District, while Thanh Xuan is in Thanh Xuan District.
The 3.3 - kilometer section of road is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with a total capital of VND1.3 trillion (US$68 million).
The overhead road that will connect Mai Dich street in Cau Giay District to the north end of Linh Dam Lake is part of the second phase of the Beltway No.3 Project around the capital city, with a total investment of VND5.5 trillion ($290 million) from the ODA (Official Development Assistance) of Japan.
Once completed, the road will be 8.9 kilometers in length, 24 meters in width, with four lanes.
The remaining sections are expected to begin construction by the end of the year and are expected to finish in 2012.
